ITINERY

Day 1

Arrival at Queen Alia International Airport you will be met and assisted with all formalities and customs. After that, transfer to your hotel in Amman for Accommodation. D.

Day 2

Start a city tour of Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom. Often referred to as the “White City” Amman offers a contrast between oriental and cosmopolitan. The tour will take you to the museums, the Citadel, the amphitheatre, the souks and the modern part of town. Proceed to the Dead Sea for a swim in the salty waters of this lowest spot on earth. Experience the ultimate sensation of trying to swim, while you can actually only float. Free afternoon at the Dead Sea for swimming and relaxing. Transfer back to Amman for dinner and overnight. B, D.

Day 3

Depart Amman to Petra via the Kings’ Road. En route, visit the mosaic city of Madaba, where the oldest map of the Holy Land exists on the floor of Saint George’s Church. Madaba. A short drive will bring you to Mt. Nebo, the alleged burial site of Moses overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Continue on via the scenic canyons of Wadi Mujib (Arnon’s Valley in the Bible) to the Crusader castle at Kerak. This 12th Century hill top fortress features galleries, towers, chapels and ramparts that recall the gallantry of the Crusaders themselves. On to Petra for check in at your hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. B/D.

Day 4

Depart for a full day tour of Petra, the soul-stirring, rose-red city is a Jordanian national treasure and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the ancient world, Petra was renowned for its refined culture, massive architecture, and ingenuous system of dams and water channels. Petra still forms part of the domain of the Bedouin, and you will see them with their horses and camels. After passing tombs outside the city, you come to the “Siq”, an immense crack in the Nubian sandstone almost half a mile long. This winding fissure separates overhanging cliffs that appear to meet 300 feet overhead. The “Siq” makes one last turn to reveal Petra’s most impressive monument Al Khazneh (The Treasury). Beyond el Khazneh you are surrounded on both sides by hundreds of Petra’s curved and built structures. The group will be transferred back to the hotel in Petra for an overnight. B/D.

Day 5

Depart to the magical desert of Wadi Rum, home of “Lawrence of Arabia”. Enjoy a mint tea at the Resthouse, before you take one of the Jeeps owned by the local Bedouins for a trip into the many sites in the moon-like landscaped desert. The group will have the chance for a walk in the desert accompanied by a local English speaking Bedouin guide. After that, transfer back to Amman via the Desert Highway to check in at your hotel. B/D.

Day 6

This morning after breakfast transfer for departure home. B.
